Hi Nugget friends,
we were very fine until tonight.

We are on the way from the Iranian border back to home, 124 561 km on the clock and "motor mulfunction" arose on the highway to Instanbul.

Thanksfully to the God, motor stopped at Koceali where Fords are produced and I hope we will have a great support here.

Turks made a diagnostic at 0:30 (Saturday) and found turbo and two pistons dead.

We go on servis Monday morning.

All over this I do thank my Nugget for all adventures.

It was very, but very hard get a hotel rooms for my family, because our dog is traveling with us.
I had to ride 20 km on bike around the city to get a place.

I´m back with very bad news.

I do have two options only:

1. Brand new engine (price is the same as at home) with exchange let say within 4 working days
2. Pay 75 % of new engine price and wait for repair about 14 days up to 1 month

I´m afraid that my options is limited ....

May I request you for advice ?

1. Is here somebody who knows exactly part number or correct 140 k, 2,2 engine in EU version?

Zunächst mal Dank an Radim für seinen detaillierten, anschaulichen Bericht.
Ich wünsche ihm einen glimpflichen Ausgang seines "Abenteuers".

124000 km hat sein 2012er (vielleicht ist es eher ein 2011er?) also durchgehalten. RudiRadlos hatte hier kürzlich 145000 km geboten. Kennt jemand einen Nugget aus der Reihe 2009 - 11/2011 der mehr zu bieten hätte? Meiner, s.u., hat jetzt 95000 und ich bin bis heute wirklich zufrieden. Der Verbrauch auf der Autobahn je nach Tempo (100 - 130) zwischen 8 und 10 Litern. Landstraße auch darunter. Keine außergewöhnlichen Reparaturen, ordentlicher (regelmäßiger) Werkstattservice.

Aber immer das Gespenst eines bevorstehenden Motorausfalls im Nacken obwohl ich mich darauf auch schon eingestellt habe: Telefon und AGB von Versicherung und Ford parat, 2 große leere Reisetaschen unter der Bank, fehlt noch was? So ließe sich der Zwischenfall wohl meistern. Blöd würde es nur für meine Kinder, die ja mit ganz anderen Randbedingungen klarkommen müssten: Kinder, Urlaubstermine....

Solches relativiert natürlich den Grad meiner Zufriedenheit erheblich. Ich habe auch schon Alternativen erwogen. Ein neuer Nugget wäre keine, weil zu klein und gewiss auch nicht risikolos. Ein anderes Womo mit den Vorteilen eines Nugget wäre mir zu groß, zu unhandlich, zu gefräßig. Natürlich könnte man auch Prophylaxe betreiben, aber Sicherheit bietet die auch nicht, ist zudem weder billig noch nachhaltig. So wird mich mein Nugget wohl noch eine Weile begleiten, mir meine Verdächtigungen hier hoffentlich nicht Übel nehmen und vielleicht sogar noch länger durchhalten als ich?

yes, agree with you and at the moment when I got an offers, my decesion was clear - brand new engine.
If count costs for two rooms, undefined period spent here, possible problems in the future, I hope my decesion is correct.
Thank you very much for hint regarding cashback by Ford, of cause I will do my best to get back any penny.
As Stifter writes, we had an another program and I have to cancel or booking in Croatia.
Have no chance get my family there on time.

I have to correct mileage of my Nugget, have reached 126 867 km.
Sorry for my inacurrate information, I was a bit mad of the situation.
I was many times thinking last days about RudyRadlos and same situation in Iran ...... Turkey is relatively best choice and I still do thank that Nugget stopped here.

By the way, I must write that I was really surprised how fast the engine was destroyed.
We had seen as already in Fatih (Istanbul), moving at constant speed of 120 km on highway without any signal of problem in recent 200 kilometres.
We left tunnel (thanksfully ), I told my wife that power of engine is strange and within 2 km or two minutes engine was dead .... I really woudn't expect that it may happen so fast.

I have paid deposit of 2 000 EUR and Nugget is already out of my control.
We shoud be back on the road until the end of week, but who knows, this is Turkey.

Of cause, I'm not happy to pay such big ammout unexpected, but if I look on the situation from better angle, Nugget will have a new life.
But, engine exchanged at home service would be better.

All over this I found some Transits waiting for engine repair too, so hope that Es Oto Izmit does this job well.
